Need you car, van or people carrier tinted? We have several different window tint options…

ADS are the leading car window tinting specialists in the Southwest, with over 11 years experience and 5000 cars later we can guarantee a quality installation. Some less experinced companies apply rear screens in 2 or 3 pieces, ADS car window tinting service includes 99.5% of screens applied with one piece of quality film.

Tinted windows look great but there are also other benifits, including safety, security, privacy, comfort and protection to upholstery against the harmful and damaging UV Rays. From a health perspective, there has been research done that suggest having film applied can reduce the risk of skin cancer. See below

Latest News:-

Motorist on a collision course with skin cancer
Frequent driving may increase the risk of developing skin cancer, research shows.
Studies have shown that sunlight coming through the side windows of cars could be to blame for the increase. The windows block the UVB rays that cause sunburn but not the deeper-penetrating UVA rays which are linked to skin cancer. Windscreens made of laminated glass, can block both. Researchers in the U.S. claim drivers who roll down the side windows are at an even greater risk.
Among the men and women tested at St. Louis University School of Medicine, the rate of cancers directly correlated to the areas of the body most often exposed to ultraviolet radiation when driving – which in the U.S where cars are left-hand drive, is the left side of the body. Affected areas were the head, neck, hands and arms – all areas exposed to the sun when driving
Lead author Dr Scott Fosko suggested that car manufacturers could save lives by tinting the glass of the side windows or by using UV filters. The study suggests that in the UK, with motorists sitting in the right front seat, driving would lead to more skin cancers on that side of the body.
A spokesman for Cancer Research UK said: ‘Although glass greatly reduces the risk of sunburn it does not prevent long-term damage from UVA. ‘So if you are driving long distances or sitting in your conservatory every day for long periods of time, with the sun beaming in on you, then you are putting yourself at risk.’
Around 40,500 cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in Britain a year, of which 6,000 are malignant melanomas – the most dangerous type. Around 1,500 die from melanomas in the UK every year.
In cases where skin cancer is detected early, however, there is a 99 percent clear-up rate.

Car Tint Cooling Properties

Car window tinting is popular for a reason. Not only does it make any car look instantly cooler and more sophisticated, but it has some other benefits as well. For example, hotter times of the day when the sun shines brightly a cars interior can benefit a great deal from window tinting. The less direct sunlight that gets into the car, the cooler the car is even when setting in the sun. This not only makes for a more comfortable entry, but less time cooling off the car and fewer burning thighs on those hot summer days.

In this sense, it might be said that car tinting can help you get better gas mileage on your vehicle. The reason why that is is because if the car is cooler when you get into it, it takes less air conditioning to cool it off. This makes gas run more efficiently as the car a/c unit can really draw on your gas tank after a while.

Sunglasses for Your Vehicle

Another one of the great benefits to car window tint film is that it keeps more of the UV rays outside of the car, lessening the detriment that the sun can cause on the eyes and the risk of skin cancer, premature aging, and the other perils of just too much sun light. Good window tint can reduce that one-arm tan that many people get from driving as well.

Reduced Visible Glare

One thing that few people would notice is that automobile tinting film has a way of reducing glare on the cars windows, making for a safer drive in brightly lit areas, rain storms, or other bad conditions.

There are so many great advantages to having your car windows tinted. Not only does car window tint make your car look more chic and stylish, but it helps you to kick back in a cooler, shadier vehicle as well. Comfort is important in the car too, and car window tint film can help to deliver that extra bit.”

The installation of Auto Window Tints (Automotive Films) is one of the best ways to improve the overall look of your vehicle, as well as affording many other benefits: -

Improved Comfort

Blocking of Scorching Heat

Reduced Fading to Interior of Vehicle

Reduced Glare

Reduces UV radiation by almost 100%.

Prevents glass shattering and reduces the risk of flying glass in an accident.

Increased Security. It strengthens glass and can deter car crime.

Improves visual security.

Enhances in car video screens.

Helps maintain market value of your car.

Enhances colour of glass. Automotive Films will, as well as blocking out heat, obstruct an extremely high percentage of harmful UV rays whilst still allowing visible light through the windows. This effect increases the comfort levels, whilst driving, for you and your passengers, as well as helping to prevent the interior upholstery from fading.

We have all experienced the harsh glare from the sun, or from other vehicles headlights whilst driving and the effect of constantly squinting while in your car will increase the likelihood of driver fatigue. Automotive Films significantly reduce this glare, which will help take the strain out of your driving.

Check out the video of how we tint your vehicle

Safety and Security is also a major concern for any motorist, however, the installation of Automotive Films can help ease this worry. The Films are bonded tightly to the glass helping to hold shattered windows together when broken. This will protect you and others from flying glass during an accident or can help deter criminals from continuing to break into your car. Tinted films can also help to conceal any possessions from would-be thieves.

Automotive Films are available in a wide variety of colours and shades, all containing scratch resistant coatings and are covered by a factory warranty.

ADS Window Films will ensure a quality installation of your Automotive Films either on-site (if suitable fitting bay available) or at our own premises. We have the knowledge and experience to assist you in making the best choice for your vehicle.

We will be very happy to discuss the options available with you and you can contact us either directly or via our on-line enquiry form.

The suns ultraviolet rays and solar heat are responsible for over half the damage your vehicle interior will sufferduring its lifetime. The Solar Guard and True Grey film we use rejects almost 100% of the harmful UV rays + a significant amount of solar energy. This all helps keep your vehicle interior looking newer for longer and by the way helps it maintain a higher market value.

Greater Efficiency
The Solar Guard and True Grey tinting films we use reject up to 63% of the sun’s heat energy, preventing your car from heating as quickly as it normally would. This means the car’s air conditioner won’t have to work as hard to maintain a cool temperature – thereby reducing fuel and AC servicing costs.

Increased Safety
The application of Armour Guard, Solar Guard or True Grey films provides extra protection from smashed glass. The films, applied on the inside of the window act to hold any glass shards together, greatly reducing the likelihood of them from coming into contact with the driver or passengers.

Privacy
A main benefit is that the people on the outside can’t see into the vehicle providing privacy to the passengers and driver. It can also deter car crime, as a potential thief will not be able to see into the vehicle as clearly.

Reduces Glare
A tinted vehicle offers the driver unexpected comfort as they will suffer less glare on sunny days and less dazzle at night from other vehicles headlights, reducing eye strain and fatigue. The reduced glare obtained by the application of Solar Guard and True Grey films also enhances the contrast of in-car video screens if they are fitted.

Scratch Resistant and Immune to Bubbling
The Solar Guard and True Grey films used are scratch resistant and do not fade, peel or bubble like other films. This will ensure that high quality finish will remain.

Guarantee
All of our work is fully guaranteed.

ADS are the leading Commercial Window Film installers in the Southwest!

Here’s why having window tints in your office space is essential:

In today’s modern architecture having a window friendly environment is a main focus during the design process of building a new structure. We all love windows in our lives it is the connection with the outdoors that makes us want that window seat on an airline or a restaurant, working in an office with no windows is not something most people want, most people strive for that corner office with windows.

We all want glass but unfortunately we have many issues with structures made with a lot of glass:

Large windows increase the sun entering a structure causing a rise in temperature inside a structure

Glare becomes a problem at certain times of day making it hard to see a computer screen or TV

When the suns UV rays enter your office they damage wood floors, woodwork, walls, artwork, carpeting, curtains and even your skin.

The solution to the problems modern architecture creates is Commercial Window Film. Using Commercial
Window Tinting Film will:

Reduce the temperature in a large glass structure by up to 15º

Allow your employees to be more efficient because glare can be reduced by up to 85%

Reduce damaging UV rays from entering your structure by 99.9%

Prolong the life of air conditioning units due to the reduction of its use

This is a “Green” technology that will save you money and protect the environment

ADS Window Films Ltd, supply and install a range of world class window films and WHEN IT COMES TO COMMERCIAL FILM:

WE MEAN BUSINESS

With years of experience in the supply and installation of commercial window film, ADS Window Films Ltd. has a track record for helping thousands of commercial customers with their solar related glazing problems. Ranging from opaque films that provide maximum privacy and solar control to spectrally selective films that maintain on unobstructed view while rejecting tremendous amounts of heat, there is an ADS Window film for every potential application.

ULTIMATE ENERGY EFFICIENCY
With the goal of achieving the ultimate in energy efficiency, ADS Window Films Ltd supplies many window films utilizing specialty metals.

Available in a wide range of shades and light densities, these films are spectrally selective, that is, they allow considerable amounts of visible light to penetrate the film while excluding much of the sun’s heat. Commercial building owners substantially reduce utility bills by simply applying solar control window films.

Most solar control films pay for themselves through the energy savings they create in approximately two year’s time, and carry 10 year warranties. Levels of efficiency are so high that many utility companies offer incentives or rebate for the application of window film. Productivity in the workplace increases as glare is reduced and hot and cold spots are eliminated. In many cases privacy increases and the buildings facade acquires a uniform, aesthetically pleasing look.

Our window films eliminate up to 99% of ultraviolet light, greatly reducing the fading of furniture, rugs, and other fabrics..

Our window films are the result of outstanding quality standards and technical initiative. ADS Window Films use the most optically clear polyester film available and superior pressure sensitive adhesives. These are continually researched and refined, producing a high-temperature, high-shear formulation that will not peel, bubble, or delaminate due to heat or age. A durable scratch resistant coating (SCR) protects the film surface against scratching caused by dirt, dust, and everyday wear and tear.

Our commercial window films are the most durable and attractive films available today. Each product is backed by an extensive manufacturers warranty that guarantees the replacement of any window film that does not perform to product specifications.

Laminated Glass & Window Film.

Information on Thermal Fracture.

Laminated glass is a great product as both a safety glazing material and as a considerable deterrent to forced entry through a window. Unlike toughened glass, it can actually break very easily but stays in one piece because of the plastic interlayer (polyvinyl butyl – PVB) holding the glass on either side. Toughened on the other hand is very hard to break (unless you know how) but then breaks into thousands of small pieces.

This information is fairly well known but I mention the two types specifically because I want to draw attention to an important matter relating to risk. The edges of any glass sheet have a significant bearing on its strength. Glass is as a product, brittle by nature and holds together under immense stress. Toughening involves a heating and cooling process that creates even greater stress. No sheet of glass will get through the toughening process unless it has good smooth edges. The glass will crack.

Laminated glass is usually two sheets of regular (annealed, but toughened can be used) glass with a PVB layer between. When cut by glaziers the process used usually damages the edges of the glass thereby making it up to 50% weaker than it would be with good flawless edges.

When window film is applied to glass, the necessary pressure applied with the squeegee can flex a large pane to quite a degree. This on its own can precipitate an existing crack on the unseen edge to become evident. This can even sometimes occur with ordinary float glass that is badly cut.

Once properly applied, solar film on glass will both reflect and absorb heat from the sun. Depending on the type of window frame and the method of retention of the glass, heat that is absorbed will be conducted from the edges of the glass to the frame making the edges cooler than the middle. This creates more thermal stress in the glass, which can promote a fracture from an unseen weak edge.

Because those of us in the window film industry are unable to check the glass edges, we try to give best advice to building owners and managers when solar control film is being considered. We can never guarantee that glass will not break.

Any glass that is toughened, either as single layer or multi-layer laminated is most unlikely to suffer from thermal stress. The edges are always very good. Most regular annealed glass is usually not a problem, but larger panes of thicker glass are difficult to cut and can have poor edges. Laminated that you will most often encounter will 6.4mm which means the glass sheets are only 3mm thick – very breakable on its own! Cutting involves scoring both sides, hopefully along the same line unless done by computer, snapping, and then usually pouring mentholated spirits along the crack to ignite and melt the plastic interlayer. This fractures the glass edges.

Installing solar film on the external surface reduces the amount of heat absorbed and therefore the temperature differential between the middle and edge of the glass is less. The thermal stress is reduced in this situation and the possibility of breakage is reduced. Consideration should also be made of the type of frame and glazing retention system used and the size of the pane. I would be much more happy advising you to install film on laminated glass that was installed in a UPVC frame with rubber gaskets especially say only 1.0 metre square than a 3.0 metre square sheet of laminated glass installed with putty in a steel frame. Heat would conduct much quicker in the latter case and therefore cool the edge of the glass more. A larger pane holds more heat in the middle than a small pane.

Another significant factor is the orientation of the windows and any partial shading. North Face windows would probably escape any extremes in temperature. Whereby East, South & West facing windows would at some point be exposed to high temperature change and any form of shading on the glass can create temperature differential within individual panes heightening the probability of thermal stress.

Dear Sirs,

Conservatory at Long Ridge House

I would like to share with you our satisfaction with the films your team applied to our conservatory last month.

We had two problems. Our conservatory is overlooked by other houses on one side and the daytime temperature was so high we could not use it. Your team applied a bronze reflective film to the roof and one side which cut down the temperature dramatically and also made it impossible for neighbours to see inside during the day. You also applied a clear film to the remaining sides which enables us to still have our view but cuts down heat transmission and reduces the fading of our soft furnishings.

The whole effect is better than the blinds we had fitted previously and was considerable cheaper than the alternative of fitting new blinds throughout.

We were very happy with the installation team. They arrived on time, moved the heavy furniture, cleaned up thoroughly after the work and finished the whole job in a day. They were cheerful and good-humoured throughout and took every care to avoid damage to our furnishings.

I have no hesitation in recommending solar films as a viable solution to excessive temperature in a conservatory and your company as a professional applicator of these films.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Gary,

Following your visit to our home In April to discuss our conservatory roof and windows; following our order and your prompt installation, we are now minded to write to thank you.

So often these days extravagant claims are made about the benefits of products and services – yet sadly the reality is all too frequently a considerable disappointment.

Not, I am pleased to say, the case with your company! You made no such claims or promises. You detailed and demonstrated the options available to use to help reduce solar glare, heat gain and fading, and answered all our questions. As requested by us you followed up your visit with further samples and technical details, together with your recommendations and costing.

This gave us all the information we needed to make a decision as to whether to proceed and if so on what basis. We happily placed an order.
Installation was arranged for Monday 9th May, and your fitters Scott and Neil duly arrived at the agreed time. They worked quickly, quietly and conscientiously, showing great care and consideration for our home. Their professionalism and expertise is obvious, they are a credit to themselves and the company.

CoolKote was used on the roof and charcoal 35 was applied to the windows and doors. The results were immediate and, quite frankly, amazing! Glare has been instantly and quite markedly reduced. As has heat gain and build up. We had a slight concern in the recesses of our minds about darkening the windows – but the charcoal 35 film has in fact enhanced the appearance, cut the glare, and has in no way diminished views out of the windows. The room now has seemingly acquired an air of cool tranquillity.

In summer we have now the use of our conservatory all day for the whole year, rather than being excluded by excessive glare and heat for large parts of the day especially during spring and summer.

Thank you. Our initial impressions are very positive, and we look forward to enjoying the benefits long beyond your 10 year guarantee!

With Kind regards,

Ian and Angela

Based in Plymouth Devon, ADS are the leading suppliers and installers of Quality Window Film in the Southwest.

We can supply and fit, to your exact requirements, window film to suit most commercial, domestic, automotive and vehicle tinting situations.

Reducing Heat and Glare
Providing Beauty, Elegance, Privacy, Safety and Security

Businesses benefit by providing a cooler more comfortable environment for employees and reducing heating and air conditioning costs

Homes benefit by making occasional rooms, conversatories and large windowed areas more accessable in bright weather.

Soft furnishings, carpets and stock items benefit from reduced fading

Window films provide security and privacy

Your car or motor vehicles will look better, feel cooler and be more secure

Heat gain through glass is cut by up to 80%, so interiors are kept far cooler and more comfortable

Solar glare is cut by up to 80%, so eye strain is dramatically reduced

Damaging UV light is cut by 98% or more, so vulnerable materials are protected from fading

Glass is strengthened for safety and security

People and valuables are shielded from view

Window film can reduce unwanted summer heat gain by up to 80 percent, considerably lowering the temperature of a room in the vicinity of the window. And in winter, valuable heat is reflected back into the room, minimizing that cold-wall effect.

Our Window Film Range covers a variety
of applications including Solar Control Film, Energy Control Film, Conservatory Film, Privacy Screening, Architectural Enhancement, Manifestations, Safety Film and Security Film to improve the quality of your glazing and to ensure compliance with current building regulations.

As with the Residential and Commercial application of Window Films, Automotive or Auto Films and Car Tints will, as well as blocking out heat, obstruct an extremely high percentage of harmful UV rays whilst still allowing visible light through the windows. This effect increases the comfort levels, whilst driving, for you and your passengers, as well as helping to prevent the interior upholstery from fading.
